Dear friends,
As we approach the final stretch of our time in LIT102, and as I write this my final blog, let
us take a stroll down memory lane. A big shout-out to our awesome teacher, Mrs.
Lazarus. She did not just teach us about literature; she made it burst with
life!
Mrs. Lazarus took us on a writing journey, unraveling the
secrets of storytelling, descriptive, and persuasive words. She even made
poetry a bit magical. She emphasized starting our writing with a bang to grab
readers, and that stuck with me.
We also dove into the stages of writing development and the
six traits of good writing, like sailing through waves of wisdom. We used these
traits to check out students' writing and our own if we were paying extra
attention.
And can we talk about the blast we had with 'All About
Books'? Definitely the highlight for me! Now, let us carry what we have learned
back to our classrooms. I am pumped to try out cool strategies like authors'
chairs, crafting awesome 'All About Books,' and cheering on peer reviews. All strategies that were employed in the teaching and learning process.
This LIT journey is not a goodbye; it is a grand hello to
new beginnings. Let us stick together as a literary family, sharing ideas and
helping each other grow in our classrooms.
So, I stand, not at the end of a road but at the
beginning of a new chapter. The ink may dry on our LIT102 adventures, but the
stories we've written and the skills we've honed are the treasures we carry
forward. As we bid farewell, let's not view it as the end of the road but as
the opening of a new book, waiting to be written with the quill of our newfound
wisdom.
Until we meet again my dear friends, I bid you adieu and best wishes on your literary journey in your classrooms and in life!
Yours Truly,
Your favourite blogger,
Andrea...💞💞
A fitting conclusion to a wondrous journey and memorable learning experience, but, as you rightly said, this is only the beginning of the end. Now is the time to shine in our classrooms, to strut our stuff, to put our awesome teacher’s teachings on display.
ReplyDeleteWhile I was reading the topics we covered in your blog, I couldn’t help but bask in the sensational moments for a bit, reminiscing about the meaningful learning experiences we all shared. It was quite the trip, one that will be etched into my memories permanently.
On another note, I’ve noticed that you were over the moon about the lesson on “all about me books”, and that lesson was magnificent. I can already picture you and your kids having a blast with that topic, that’s definitely going to be one for the books.
My favorite lesson was 'exploding the moment'. I had such a big 'aha moment' understanding how authors seemingly slowed time and masterfully used words to bring a scene to life, utilizing sensory details, voice, word choice, figurative devices, and more to recreate the scene so authentically lifelike that the reader is encapsulated by the words. Thanks for that amazing trip down memory lane, most revitalizing indeed.
Ohhh Emilio, my students and I will have a field day with the all about book strategy, as well as other fun strategies mentioned. I am glad that you had such a fantastic trip down memory lane. I trust that you too will employ such strategies, especially the exploding the moment (your favourite) with your students to make teaching and learning fun and engaging. All the best!!!

ReplyDeleteYour final blog post is such a heartwarming journey down the LIT102 memory lane! Huge shout-out to Mrs. Lazarus for making literature burst with life—she was a wonderful wizard of words. Starting writing with a bang really is the kind of wisdom that sticks!
I hope to have such a profound impact on my students.
The way you describe sailing through the stages of writing development and the six traits is like a literary adventure. And 'All About Books'? It was a blast indeed! The strategies you're pumped to try out in your classrooms, like authors' chairs and peer reviews, sound like the secret sauce to an engaging class.
Love the positive vibe of a grand hello to new beginnings, not a goodbye. Let's keep this literary family going, sharing ideas, and growing together. Here's to the next chapter of our writing adventures! 📚🌟
My dearest Ronelle, Mrs. Lazarus truly deserves a trophy! Best believe, I always advocate for positivity, my friend. I look forward to hearing about your experience implementing these strategies in the classroom. It's wonderful how we learn and have the opportunity to apply our newfound knowledge. I'm eagerly anticipating your feedback!
DeleteAndrea,
ReplyDeleteA blast from the past to the present, you took us finally through a swift trip of your literary learning. I vividly remember your excitement about the ''All about me " book, the metamorphosis of writers and the authors chair are post that stood out to me. As you release yourself from your cocoon Andrea, may you take flight and spread your wings with the eagerness you display on this literary journey of LIT 102.
I utter the same sentiments as Ronelle let us not end the journey here, keep sharing the treasures that you will find.
keep in mind the following words.
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window.
Let the sun illuminate the words that you cannot find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions.
Toodles!
Oh yes Cordelia! The journey is only just beginning. I am so excited to get the ball rolling in my classroom with my students. Thank you for your kind words. It was such a pleasure having you and Ronelle as my blogging sisters!
DeleteHey Andera, it is a great feeling when a teacher can have such impact on her students and making the lessons so fun and engaging. We were expose to some great strategies which can be implemented within our classroom in which our students will be very much involved. As you all mentioned, lets see this as the beginning of a new chapter in our teaching career and not the end. Lets strive towards making writing enjoyable so that our students will be actively engage in different writing.
ReplyDeleteIndeed Makeda! We were exposed to a variety of great strategies from Mrs. Lazarus, who I deem the best in her field! I can agree with you, in this our new chapter, let us indeed strive in creating and encouraging writing, making it enjoyable to our students.
DeleteI concur with you Andrea, if we make writing interesting and enjoyable children will gravitate towards it. Most children now are tech savvy, therefore, they can type their stories on their devices and we correct them there. As opposed to writing and rewriting in their exercise book. Allowing them to choose their own topics can result in amazing stories.
